My research interest is related to the functioning of microbiota in a particular environment. These microbial communities can be used as an eco-friendly tool to solve the contamination problems in various environments. Identifying degraders in soil and utilizing their potential against soil pollutants with the help of computational approach is the main concept of my present research work. Phenyl urea herbicides are known for their widespread use to control weeds in agricultural system. The accumulation of these herbicides have been resulted in the soil and water pollution, and recorded to have negative effects on the ecosystem. In this project we are trying to analyse the shifts in microbial communities by exposing the soils to phenyl urea herbicides in order to identify the principal degraders in crop soils. Further this information would be utilized against the pollutants through metabolic modelling.
