The project I participated in focused on deriving biogas from waste and aromatic hydrocarbon soil pollutant degradation. To reach this goal, a three-chamber bioreactor system was designed, where anaerobic biodegradation of aromatic hydrocarbon compounds occurred with simultaneous biogas emission.  My research goal is to reveal key microbial species involved in biodegradation and methanogenesis processes, and to construct metabolic models to optimize the process in the future.
